Midsomer Murders Madness

Catch Our (Badger's) Drift?

We are mad for Midsomer Murders and apparently many other people are too. Ever since our first Midsomer-inspired fake tourist tee design — "Visit Badger's Drift" we've been moved, or asked (!), to add more. Over the years we added designs that reference some of the most popular episodes, and finally created a dedicated collection.

Flying Wine Bottles from Hidden Depths Winery

The second MM design made up an imaginary wine seller called "Hidden Depths,"— the inside joke here is the advert for "special delivery," because anyone who remembers this episode will recall the flying wine bottles. According to the Midsomer Murders Wiki,

John Nettles has often claimed that the grotesque murder of the"Otto Benham" character - stoned to death with champagne (sic) bottles fired from a medieval trebuchet whilst he was staked out on the hoops of a croquet lawn - was his favorite of all the fiendish crimes committed in the long-running series.

Something for What "Ales" You

Next came our "Cursed Ale Microbrewery" (a nod to "The Ghost of Causton Abbey".)  The abbey has been transformed into a microbrewery, but apparently an ancient curse remains. Our design pays homage to Brother Josef who centuries earlier cursed those who sentenced him to death by boiling.

Fans Relish This Design

Then we added "Plummer's Relish," showing a jar of relish flanked by geese to honor the episode "Sauce for the Goose." Detective John Barnaby favored Plummer's, as did his father whom, he says, would enjoy it in his sandwiches every working day. The relish is described as "an acquired taste. Peppery, fruity, hint of turmeric, quite autumnal."

Holy Smokes, Batman

Our "Lower Pampling Panthers" cricket all-stars tee draws inspiration from "Last Man Out" and combines classic athletic design with a bit of medieval coat of arms.

Axeman Sings the Blues

Our most recent design so far —although we look forward to making more—is the one we created to remember the Midsomer Rock Music Festival, hosted at Badger's Drift, which we understand was an electrifying experience. Just ask Suzie Quatro.

This design is available with white on black or other solid color, or deep purple on tie dye.
